What is Lark Bellingham?

It’s a high-quality Bellingham community designed especially with Western Washington University students in mind. Lark features a variety of spacious, furnished apartments plus a full set of community features such as a 24-hour fitness center, resident lounge and game room, computer center and more. All just minutes from campus.

Is Lark part of Western Washington University?

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Lark Bellingham has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom. What is included in the rent?

Each resident at Lark Bellingham pays a flat rate that includes:

  • High-speed Internet
  • Flat-panel HDTV in living room
  • Water/sewer, trash removal
  • Washer and dryer in each apartment
  • Furnishings
  • Community features — fitness center, computer lab, etc.

What size are the apartments at Lark?

The spacious accommodations at Lark Bellingham range from 2 to 3 bedrooms, with a private bathroom for each bedroom.

Are the apartments furnished?

Yes, all apartments at Lark Bellingham include a furniture package including a full-size bed, dresser, desk and chair in each bedroom, and a sofa, coffee table and entertainment stand in each living room. Plus, all residences include a dining table and chairs. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model residences.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is September 17, 2024 to August 25, 2025, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Other alternate dates may be available; please inquire with our staff. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

Each resident must pay an administrative fee within 7 days after signing the Housing Agreement. This fee is reduced significantly if the resident provides a qualifying guarantor (often a parent) for their financial obligations under Housing Agreement.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Lark Bellingham also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at Lark?

Your living costs at Lark Bellingham can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Lark. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is Lark open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at Lark Bellingham are students at Western Washington University and the per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Residents/families with children are welcome. There is no extra cost for minor children in the care of adult residents, other than regular charges for each bedroom space selected by the resident. A minor occupying a bedroom space rented by a parent, guardian or person with legal custody is not considered a breach of the Housing Agreement or a violation of the rules. Lark is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. In order to match student roommates in shared apartments, we will request roommate consent for any non-student occupants.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

Lark Bellingham has fire sprinklers and individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

Lark Bellingham is pet-friendly, subject to limits on animals and breed. The community is smoke-free in all indoor areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at Lark?

Lark Bellingham offers a limited number of free parking spaces. Limited guest parking is also available at no charge. Optional reserved parking is available for a small extra charge.

What other transportation options will I have?

Lark Bellingham has a private shuttle to the WWU campus that runs every 30 minutes from 7:15am – 8:15pm, Monday – Friday. The ride to campus takes approximately 15 minutes.

Can I see a model apartment?

Yes. Please request an appointment for a personal tour, or just stop by to see us and we’ll be happy to show you the community.

The first regular rent installment and annual administrative fee are due September 1, 2024. Approved guarantor or alternate partial prepayment required.
